When you drive your car every day, you start to become pretty familiar with what's "normal" for it. Smells, sights, sounds - after a while, it becomes pretty easy to spot if something out of the ordinary pops up. Knowing what those unusual signs mean, however, is a whole different story.
Our Orlando Toyota body shop is here to give you a quick rundown of some of the sounds you should listen for on the regular - if you hear them, it's time to pay our Orlando Toyota auto service center a visit to get to the root of the problem. Check it out.
Four car warning sounds to never ignore
Sound #1: A squealing noise when you brake.
Do you hear squealing noises when you hit the brakes? This is usually an indicator that you need new brake pads. Your car brakes are designed to make this annoying noise when the pads get too thin and your rotors are in danger of being damaged. If you hear it, call Toyota of Orlando to get brake service on the books ASAP.
Sound #2: Hissing.
If you hear hissing under the hood, your first instinct should be to check under the hood. This noise is typically indicative of an issue with your car's vacuum lines being loose or malfunctioning. Our auto service techs can either reattach the lines or replace them if they're faulty; either way, don't ignore this car warning sound. Schedule auto service right away.
Sound #3: Clicking.
Clicking noises coming from under the hood can indicate an issue with oil pressure (it's too low). There are a number of reasons why your brake oil pressure could be low, so it's best to let the experts take a look under the hood and inspect everything. Low oil pressure can lead to major engine problems down the road, so definitely don't ignore this car warning sound.
Sound #4: Knocking inside the engine.
Do you hear what sounds like knocking coming from under the engine? This can mean that your rod bearings are wearing out and when they eventually give out, it can cause major performance issues (they'll basically fall out of your car). Bring your car to our car maintenance center ASAP if you hear this car warning sound.
Sound #5: Shrill or screeching noises under the hood.
Shrill or screeching noises are always alarming, but especially so if they're coming from under the hood of your car. This annoying sound can mean you have issues with a belt, and if that belt breaks it can break parts along with it. Have things checked out at Toyota of Orlando as soon as you can get your car in.
