There's nothing quite like taking things off the pavement and hitting the trail. Not only is it a great way to recharge and reset in nature, but it's also an excellent opportunity to test your Orlando Toyota's performance capabilities and see just what it can handle. However, there's also a good chance that you'll do damage to your ride if you spend a lot of time on the trail. Our Toyota of Orlando auto service techs are here to talk about some of the most common types of off-roading damage and how you can diagnose them.
#1: Body damage. Body damage is probably one of the most common types of damage that our Toyota Collision Center sees after off-roading adventures. As you traverse the trails, branches and rocks can scrape up the sides of your ride like nobody's business. The best way to find this damage? Detail your car when you get home. As you wash and wax you'll be able to take note of the scratches, dents, and dings and then schedule an appointment for repairs at our Orlando auto body shop.
#2: Transmission damage. Off-roading can entail some tricky terrain and top-notch performance from your vehicle. This can cause your RPMs to spike and fall and over time, can do a number on your transmission (and in turn, your engine and other performance components). Dead giveaways that you've got transmission problems are trouble shifting gears, a slipping transmission, or transmission fluid leaks (you'll see a puddle under the car).
#3: Undercarriage damage. Chances are you won't even notice damage to your undercarriage until you start feeling performance effects (after all, when's the last time you crawled under your car to check things out?). However, as you drive over tricky terrain filled with rocks and roots, there's a good chance you can do damage to the underside of your car. Since this is where VIP parts like your oil pan and exhaust system are housed, you don't want to risk not noticing. If you see any leaks under your car and suspect you have undercarriage damage, visit Toyota of Orlando right away so we can diagnose and fix the problem!
#4: Misalignment. Another common type of off-roading damage is knocking your wheels out of alignment. This can happens just from traveling over uneven terrain enough or taking on challenging obstacles. Regardless, it can throw your suspension out of whack and do damage to other parts if you're not careful. If you feel your steering wheel shaking or notice that your car is pulling or drifting to one side, then you need to visit our Orlando car service center for an alignment ASAP!
