Summer is a great time of year here in Central Florida (putting aside the heat and torrential rain). Summer means no school, July 4th celebrations, vacations, and lots of time at the beach and in the pool. It also, however, means that the sun is intense. If you're anything like us, you load up on the sunscreen before you head out into the sun. Why not afford your car the same protection?
Protect your car from the summer sun with these easy tips
Summer can really do a number on your Orlando Toyota if you're not careful and our car care specialists are here with tips to help you protect your car from sun damage all season long. Check it out!
Tip #1: Don't park just anywhere. Are you the type of person who will park in the closest parking spot without giving it a second thought? You may want to reconsider that technique in the summer. Parking in shade - even if it's just partial shade under a few trees - can really help ward off sun damage to your car's exterior AND interior. A garage is best, of course, and a carport or covered parking is the next best option, but any shade can make a big difference.
Tip #2: Invest in a quality car wax. You don't have to break the bank, but buying a mid-quality car wax can really save you a ton of money in car paint repairs down the road. To protect your car from the summer sun, apply it regularly. It can help ward off UV rays that fade paint, as well as repel moisture and rust (and even small scratches and chips in some instances).
Tip #3: Tint your windows. Tinting your Orlando Toyota's windows isn't just for for your vehicle - it's also great for you. Tinted windows help keep the cabin cooler so heat damage is less likely, and you'll also find your drive time a lot more enjoyable with less sun beating down through the glass. Ask our Orlando Toyota specialists when you can schedule this service to better protect your car this summer.
Tip #4: Splurge on accessories. Now's the time to spend a little money and get some car accessories. A sunshade to put up in the windshield can prevent fading to your interior and also keep the cabin cooler; seat covers and a steering wheel cover can protect your car seats and steering wheel from UV rays that can fade and crack them. And the best news? You can find all of the above at our Toyota of Orlando parts store.
Tip #5: Consider a car cover. If your car isn't a daily driver, you really should try to park it under cover when it's not in use. But if this just isn't possible, consider investing in a car cover to protect it from the sun and rain when it's sitting in the driveway in between adventures.
