Toyota of Orlando car care tips

Don't let tough car paint stains lower your car's value

However, some stains are more challenging than others and can be tough to remove from your car paint even with elbow grease and special products. Toyota of Orlando is here with tips straight from the experts on how to remove these tough stains.

Stain #1: Bird droppings and dead bugs.

It's disgusting when a bird marks its territory on the hood of your car, and every Floridian dreads lovebug season and the transformation of their front bumper into a lovebug graveyard. And bird droppings and dead bugs aren't the easiest stains to remove from car paint, either. Our Orlando Toyota techs recommend taking a dryer sheet and dipping it into a mixture of white vinegar and warm water and scrubbing away. Also, pro tip - get to the stains immediately. Both of these blemishes are highly acidic and can do damage to your car paint if you leave them to sit.

Stain #2: Wet cement.

Have you ever gotten wet cement from roadwork on your vehicle? It can really do a number on your paint. Your best bet for removing it is to procure an oil-based cleaned (like WD40) and gently wipe it away. Remove wet cement from paint immediately and be careful when cleaning - if you scrub hard, it can actually leave swirl marks in your Orlando Toyota's paint.

Stain #3: Watermarks.

Tap water has quite a few minerals in it and therefore can leave unsightly watermarks all over your car after you wash it. As the water evaporates, the mineral deposits are left all over the paint and leave your ride looking like it's never even been detailed. The best way to avoid this is two-fold. First, dry your car thoroughly with a microfiber towel after you wash it. Second, apply a few coats of quality car wax. This will help water to bead off and lower the chance of minerals being left behind.

Stain #4: Fingerprints.

Every time you touch your car, your fingertips leave oil behind. This results in smudging, and these smudges are especially noticeable on dark paint colors. The best way to remove them is to use warm, soapy water and a microfiber cloth to wipe them away.
